Hi Wildflower Families --

I'm headed to Wake Forest tomorrow to say goodbye to my niece who's moving to Portland, Oregon on Monday, and so I'm sending out my weekly letter a little earlier than usual.

Last week, we had a terrific week celebrating pets. We made goldfish bowls, doggy and kitty puppets, and dog biscuits. My dog, Caya, came for a visit and got a lot of love! She showed off a few tricks and let the girls put a tutu, butterfly wings, necklaces, and a tiara on her. She was the most beautiful princess puppy ever. (Now she wants to come with me to preschool everyday!) We learned ASL for “cat,” “dog,” “bird,” “rabbit,” and “fish,” and talked about the letter ‘Tt.’ Like the letter ‘Ss,’ the children thought of a multitude of ‘Tt’ words -- “turtle,” “Tessa,” “Thiago,” “two,” “top,” and “Tuesday," and "Thursday”-- among others! Ask them to tell you some words that begin with the ‘Tt’ sound.

This week, we’ll talk about ocean life. We’ll make crabs and jellyfish, create a marine scene, and write an underwater love story. We’ll also talk about the letter ‘Uu.’ Towards the end of the week, we’ll make decorate our our valentine’s bags. We will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Monday and Tuesday next week. If you would like, your child may bring in valentine’s cards on Monday or Tuesday. Obviously, if you choose to bring in cards, please make sure that you include all the children in the Wildflower class. Here is our class list:

Adam
Eliza
Ellen
Gianluca
Jacob
Kate
Lucas
Matthew
Niko
Oscar
Rebecca
Sadie
Stella Rose

As you know, we are getting ready to move to our temporary location at Hope Valley Baptist Church. We understand that this is a change and that change is not easy, but personally, I feel that we are so lucky to have a place to go. Finding space in this area has proved challenging, and HVBC has been incredibly generous and flexible to let us use their building. As much as possible, the teachers plan to keep things the same -- the activities and schedule, the group-time, and the cozy, nurturing feel. If you feel that there is something particular that would help your child with the transition (a Co-Op toy or game or art project), please let me know, and I will do my best to accommodate. The staff will move into HVBC next Saturday, and we hope to have an open house for you and your children on Sunday. Kinsey will keep you informed.

As always, thank you for sharing your children with me --

Miranda
