Hi Wildflower Families --
What gorgeous weather we’re having! A nice break from the rain, but I’m still waiting for winter!
Thank you all for your patience in dealing with the school building issue. Kinsey and the board have worked miracles to find us a temporary space under very tight deadlines. We are working out the logistics of the new space and, while they might be a little anxious at first, the children are going to love the new playground and open play spaces. We will all be going on a fun adventure together!
I believe we have discussed every type of vehicle known to mankind this month during our Things That Go unit! Last week, we finished the unit by talking about things that go by land -- specifically, helper vehicles. We made traffic lights, put together police cars, and painted school buses. We talked about the letter ‘Ss’ and came up with almost 50 ‘Ss’ words: “snake,” “silly,” “Sadie,” “sheep,” “sun” “Stella,” “sand,” and “super.” Eventually, we ran out of room on the whiteboard!
In February, we will study animals. Our theme for the first week is pets. Please feel free to send in photos of your pet(s) for your child to share. If you would like to bring one of your pets to meet the class, please let me know and we’ll schedule a time to do it (usually at the beginning or end of the school day). I may bring in my sweet vizsla to play with us.
So this week we will decorate a pet rock, read Whistle for Willie, dig for dog bones, create a aquarium of beautiful goldfish, make puppy puppets and lint hamsters. We’ll learn some fun action poems about pets, the ASL words for “cat,” “dog,” and “fish,” and we’ll talk about the letter ‘Tt.’ The children really enjoy this theme!
Many thanks for sharing your children with me --
