Family Fun Day And Legacy Tiles A Success

posted Aug 26, 2012, 7:08 PM by Coop Webperson

Thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday for the Family Fun Day Open House. It was great to meet our new families and see old friends. It will be so exciting to start the new school year in our improved space!

We raised $1,105 between the legacy tiles, donations, and mug sales! This was a wonderful show of support for our school. Thank you so much to everyone who participated. The children had a fun time painting their legacy tiles. It will be such a nice addition to the school when they are displayed.

It is not too late to purchase a tile for your child to paint. It will be an ongoing fundraiser for the school. Tiles are $25 each. Please contact Kinsey or me if you are interested.

Thanks again for your support!

You can re-link at your store with the cashier or Customer Service desk or online here:

After you link your card, a portion of Harris Teeter brand products you purchase will be redeemed to the school. This is free money for our school and only takes a few minutes of your time. Please re-link!

Thank you,
Heather Harris

If your child attends a combo of any of the above or five days a week, please feel free to attend both sessions.

*Please be sure to complete a new/updated Emergency Info card at either New Parent Orientation or Child Orientation as it must be completed before the first day of school.*

Family Fun Day A Huge Success!!

posted Aug 19, 2012, 6:54 AM by Coop Webperson

Fellow Co-opers!

Was that a family FUN day or what?! It was heartwarming and inspirational to see the past, present and future co-op families (re)uniting in our (new) old building.

Congratulations to all the families who pitched in during the family work days. THANK YOU, CO-OP TEACHERS, for giving extra time and effort to get your rooms ready for this most unusual and special year.

Thanks to Fundraising Chair Susan Strohlein and Special Fundraising Projects Coordinator Judy Ray for arranging the tile fundraiser. Looking over the many tiles painted, I realize we have several genuine artists in our community!

I'd also like to offer a HUGE, HUGE THANK YOU TO KINSEY for her wonderful coordination of the Family Fun Day, her amazing, tireless leadership and all out effort to make sure the school renovations were completed on time and all of the the little details were addressed.

As school gets underway, I wanted all of you to remember that, in additon to Kinsey, your co-op board is a resource for you. We'll get answers to your questions and are here to help address any concerns you may have. It a bit selfish actually- we can only do our family jobs well if you are letting us know how everything is going!

Looking forward to a year of celebration and renewal,
Jeremy Baggish

Creative Moments

posted Aug 16, 2012, 8:49 PM by Coop Webperson

Please see the description of Creative Movement offered on Fridays, 1-2pm, $10/child directly from Fabia and Amy:

Creative Movement Fridays with Amy and Fabia

Creative Movement will be offered on Fridays from 1pm-2pm in the Big Room. The program offers first and foremost lots of fun! Children that have been active participants look forward to it all week long!

Each week children explore rhythms, musicality and new ways to move their bodies.. all without realizing it! The kids are having a blast with fun music , games and props (such as bean bags, scarves, musical instruments..) and all of this is assisting with motor skill development, body awareness, cognition and coordination! We move like animals, make shapes, explore levels, improvise around ideas to spur creativity.

It is not just hand eye coordination: it is eye/ear/entire body/abstract reasoning coordination...but we just like to call it "Creative Movement with Amy and Fabia"

All are welcome.

Wear clothes that you can easily move in and we wiggle to the beat in bare feet!

(Dance clothing is optional)

Extra Fun

posted Aug 14, 2012, 8:33 PM by Coop Webperson   [ updated Aug 14, 2012, 8:33 PM by John Lim ]

Coop Parents,

The much anticipated first day of "Extra Fun" is on Monday, September 10th! For those families new to the coop or just to the teacher supervised “Extra Fun” activities; it's really a great opportunity for your child as well as you. The children enjoy art projects, cooking projects, science experiments, outdoor fun and the opportunity to get to know another teacher better or play in a classroom that is new to them and you get more time to yourself to accomplish something without a little helper or two along! You are guaranteed to pick up a worn out, happy and fed child that is ready for a rest:) Please keep in mind whether your child typically naps in the afternoon and whether they will indeed "last" until 3pm (2pm, for dance).

You can sign up on the calendar in the hallway on the specific date of which you need care. You are only committing to that particular day when signing up your child and you will easily see who will be supervising the activities that day as to prepare your child.

Here are a few reminders and policies to consider:

“Extra Fun” is held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 1-3pm daily and is in no way affiliated with our preschool program. No “Extra Fun” activities are offered on Wednesdays due to our weekly staff meeting. The cost is $15/child, $25/two siblings and snack is provided. Even if your child does not stay for the entire “Extra Fun” time period, the flat fee of $15/child, $25/siblings remains the same. *Dance/Movement is a separate program with differing hours and costs: Friday, 1-2pm, $10/child

“Extra Fun” is open to all coop children. They do not have to attend school that day in order to participate. Simply bring them to the appropriate teacher for the specific day at 1pm.
Snack/Water is provided during “Extra Fun”.

*Other than the occurrence of an illness, same day cancellations are required to pay for the space.
Payment is expected at pick up time or prior to. Please pay with cash or make checks payable to the specific teacher supervising “Extra Fun”.*

Late fees apply; please pick your child up promptly at 3pm (2pm, Dance).
Although the canceling “Extra Fun” is typically uncommon, we do require a minimum number of children in order to hold the activities. The minimum number of children required to provide care is 3. However, if you need care for an appt, or any other crucial circumstance you have several options:

You can either pay the minimum of $45 yourself or if there is only one other signed up child; you can split the minimum with that family or simply ask a friend to join in on the fun that day. A common occurrence, is that children are signed up the day of and there could be many more children on the list by 10:00am. If “Extra Fun” is cancelled you will be notified by 10:00am by phone, text and/or email. Take a peek at the “Extra Fun” calendar the morning of, if your child is signed up for care; then you can speak to his or her teacher if the minimum has not yet been met.

Additionally, if you are dire need of childcare that day and your child is the only one signed up; please let your child's teacher know. It may be a possibility that something can be worked out as maybe another family has the same situation or a teacher is available to stay a bit late.
The following teachers supervise the “Extra Fun” activities on the following days:

Monday: 1-3pm
Tuesday: 1-3pm
Wednesday: No Extra Fun offered: Staff mtg
Thursday: 1-3pm

Friday: The Dance and Movement Program with Amy and Fabia
Time: 1pm-2pm
Cost: $10/child, all children, 2 and up are invited to be included in dance even if your child does not attend school that day.
Checks should be made out to: Amy Hart for Dance and Movement

*Please expect more info soon regarding Dance and Movement!
