SILENT AUCTION COMING UP!

What: A silent auction to benefit the school
When: Saturday, March 3rd, 7-9pm
Where: The Holiday Inn in Chapel Hill
Why: Because it’s the major fundraising event of the year (and it’s a lot of fun!)

The silent auction is getting closer (March 3), and the auction committee is working very hard to make this event (the biggest fundraiser of the year by FAR) a huge success. But ultimately, what we need to be successful is YOU (and your friends and family). So PLEASE write it into your calendar to attend (Saturday, March 3 at the ballroom of the Holiday Inn – I believe it’s at 7pm) and start spreading the word. Remember, the person who brings the most people to the auction will get a great prize. And your friends will think you are so cool to send your kids to a preschool that holds such a fun event.

We are also actively looking for acquisitions -- another area where you can help. For example, hand-made arts and crafts sold very well last year (blankets, scarves, etc.). Or perhaps you have a service you could offer (e.g., handyman services)? So please let us know if you have anything to contribute (or have a connection that might help us).

Meanwhile, our list of acquisitions is growing every day. Here's just a small sample of the great things we will be auctioning off:

A quilt hand-made by Maria, a very talented fiber artist -- Next week, Maria will be working with the kids in each classroom to design the quilt. (I can tell you that this activity was a huge hit with Yana last year – and the result was amazing!!! I’m still mad that I got out-bid!)

• Beautiful pottery from Seagrove
• A gift certificate donated by Top of the Hill
• A week of camp at Triangle SportsComplex
• A $100 gift certificate donated by Peaches-n-cream Clothing
• Weekend passes to Shakori Hills Music Festival
...and SO much more

The local business community is really stepping up to help our school. Now we need to make the most of this incredible opportunity!
